A lot has been going on in the country and my city over the past few weeks. Some observations and notes from New York over the last week:
-I was on my way to a Campaign for Liberty meeting and met up with a friend of mine on Tuesday on the way there. He was telling me he saw that Recep Tayyip Erdogan, PM of Turkey, had a police escort, traffic on 42nd St. blocked off for him and was quickly rushed into the hotel. And some messenger on a bicycle started going faster after he saw the escort and had a mean look on his face and started chasing after the convoy. Not sure what happened to him, but probably not a terrorist.
-There was a protest against the bailouts today outside the NYSE. Sooooooooo many socialists and communists, I was one of maybe three libertarians. I had an "End The Fed" sign. I started a small chant for it, some guy looked really into it and started standing next to me on the steps with my sign. Good for him! There was one guy handing out stuff for the Campaign for Liberty and handing out a transcript of a Ron Paul speech he gace to Congress back in 2002 about the housing bubble and why government involvement will make it burst. I don't know how many people fullt understood that (I know I didn't understand some of it). A lot of it was just "BLAME WALL STREET!!! FUCK CORPORATIONS!!!" What about the government???
-No one likes the bailouts. I haven't met a single person who's supporting this.
-Hofstra anyone? Maybe I should take the LIRR over to the Hofstra campus to protest outside the debates on the 15th.
